Highly Refined
Students continue to master fundamental playing techniques and technical skills as they apply to their instrument and begin the process of intuitive musicianship. Students rehearse and perform wind band literature at a high level of difficulty. Emphasis is on advanced development of skills and interpretation of all aspects of note reading, and the employability of musicianship. Content includes technical skills, solo and ensemble techniques, sight reading and ear training, as well as an introduction to music theory, important composers, and musicians.
Course is open to middle and high school students by audition or Band Director’s approval.
Practice expectations: 20-30 minutes per day.
Concert attire: Black slacks, closed toe black shoes, black socks, a black collared shirt or blouse, and a red tie for boys.
