Meet Mr. Vagn
Norm Vagn, a native of Illinois, earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Wind Conducting from the University of Kansas. He started his music teaching career in Illinois and most recently held the position of Associate Director of Bands at Riverview High School, where he taught for 20 years. At Riverview, Mr. Vagn taught Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and AP and IB music theory courses, in addition to working with the Kiltie Band and serving as the Tri-M advisor. He is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association, the Florida Bandmasters Association, and the Florida Orchestra Association.
Additionally, Mr. Vagn is the Director of Worship Music at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Sarasota. As a musician, he plays bass trombone, piano, and electric bass, and is also a vocalist.
For the past 20 years, Mr. Vagn has admired and enjoyed listening to the Pine View Bands. He is very excited to become a part of the fine tradition and to lead the bands into the future!
